J. Be Professional
No matter how you get the word out about your business, remember to always be professional. You are a business owner and you represent your business. All your interactions with customers should be focused on getting them to know, like, and trust you. Be professional:
- In your phone conversations. When you answer the phone, say the name of the business and who is speaking.
- In your voicemail. While a silly message might be fine for personal use, if your phone is used for business, record a nice, informative message. For example, “You have reached {your
buisnessbusiness name}. I’m sorry we cannot come to the phone right now, but if you will leave your name, number, and a brief message, I’ll return your call as soon as possible.” - In your personal customer interactions. Always be friendly, helpful, and dress nicely.
